Comparisons of Hadronic Shower Packages

چکیده
The high precision measurements needed to exploit the physics potential of an ee Future Linear Collider with 0.5 1 TeV center-of-mass energy range set strict requirements on performance of vertex, tracking and calorimetric detectors. The CALICE Collaboration [1] has been formed to conduct the research and development effort needed to bring initial conceptual designs for the calorimetry to a final proposal suitable for an experiment at the Future Linear Collider. Software development and simulation studies play a key role in this effort. Some such studies are reported here.

We report on simulation studies comparing various hadronic shower packages. Results show that predictions from different models vary significantly, illustrating the necessity of testbeam data to resolve the situation. متن کاملHadronic interactions and extensive air showers
Understanding hadronic multiparticle production is important for deriving the composition and energy spectrum of primary cosmic rays from air shower measurements at high energy. In this article, predictions of hadronic interaction models are discussed, emphasizing uncertainties and constraints due to model assumptions and accelerator measurements. The sensitivity of shower observables to model ...
متن کاملAir Shower Properties with the Gluon Saturation Model BBL
The hadronic interaction model BBL implements the ideas of gluon saturation due to large densities. When approaching the black body limit at high energies, leading partons acquire large transverse momenta which breaks up their coherence. This leads to a suppression of forward scattering, and is therefore important for air showers. We discuss some general aspects of this new approach and their i...
متن کاملHadronic Shower Development in Tile Iron-scintillator Calorimetry
The lateral and longitudinal profiles of hadronic showers detected by a prototype of the ATLAS Iron-Scintillator Tile Hadron Calorimeter have been investigated. This calorimeter uses a unique longitudinal configuration of scintillator tiles. Using a fine-grained pion beam scan at 100 GeV, a detailed picture of transverse shower behavior is obtained. The underlying radial energy densities for fo...
متن کاملOn the Parameterization of the Longitudinal Hadronic Shower Profiles in Combined Calorimetry
The extension of the longitudinal hadronic shower profile parameterization which takes into account non-compensations of calorimeters and the algorithm of the longitudinal hadronic shower profile curve making for a combined calorimeter are suggested. The proposed algorithms can be used for data analysis from modern combined calorimeters like in the ATLAS detector at the LHC.
